Vienna is the capital of Austria with an artistic past, and was once home to intellectual and artistic visionaries, such as Mozart, Beethoven, and Sigmund Freud. There’s so much to do, that it’s easy to get overwhelmed, so start with Prince Eugene of Savoy’s former residence, the Winterpalais, which is beautiful, but only has 10 rooms. If you want to explore a larger palace, the Imperial Palace, aka Hofburg, is huge. It was the home of the Hofburg dynasty for several centuries, and houses six museums, including the Imperial Apartments, National Library, and Sisi Museum.
If you love art, you’ll love Vienna. MUMOK offers modern art, while the Leopold Museum displays an impressive collection featuring Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele.
If you have children, Vienna is a great place to explore. Take them to Schoenbrunn Zoo and the maze at Schoenbrunn Palace, where there are also dinner-concert events. Little ones also love the Prater amusement park.
